Apéro Digital VII – Responsible Development of Neurotechnology

The seventh Apero Digital gave us the opportunity to reflect in depth with experts on the opportunities, risks and regulation of neurotechnologies.

Can data acquired from the brain be leveraged to influence cognitive processes? Will neurotech be developed for better treatment of mental diseases, recovery of lost motor or cognition, improvement of quality of life, or enhancement of human capabilities? What would happen if AI systems could read our brains, help us sleep better, become more efficient or recover from physical and mental disabilities? That's the promise of neurotechnologies, which was the topic of the seventh Apéro Digital event on 4 February 2026.

Together with the audience we reflected on responsible development of neurotechnologies covering themes like:

  • opportunities and risks

  • ethical concerns

  • regulatory efforts

  • real-life examples from industry
